The MINI DESK GLOBE was created in response to a demand for smaller globes of Bellerby quality and with our distinctive attention to detail. The map is correct as of 2011, and even includes the most recent country boundary, South Sudan.

The design features a heavy 2.5 kg globe of 9 inches in diameter, which sits on roller bearings in a hardwood base. This revolutionary design enables the globe to be moved in any direction, by hand. Edition one will be limited to two-hundred-and-fifty globes, each made by hand in our studio.

The MINI DESK GLOBE comes with a choice of three different bases: the Standard, 1951 and 'W'. Delivery is available from November 2011.

A Celestial version of the MINI DESK GLOBE will soon be available.

The Standard base is made of American black walnut, which has a distinctive grain and a smooth finish. It is priced at £590 + shipping.

The 'W' base is also made from walnut trunk, but from some significantly older pieces sourced from our local timber yard - the remnants of a larger stock used to make luxury car veneers in the '60s. This has lots of character, including splits, and looks fantastic when polished. It is priced at £990 including shipping. Only fifteen 'W' bases will be made.

The 1951 bases are made from a small piece of Japanese oak with a snakeskin-like patina, which was also sourced from our local timber yard, and  had been sitting there since 1951! Japanese oak is now almost impossible to source, and we are very fortunate to be able to produce another fifteen bases from this beautiful piece.

The Desk Globe is presented  in its own stylish flight case.
