The Perano
The Perano has been designed as a Terrestrial and Celestial pair, reflecting similar globes from the Eighteenth Century. Our map depicts thousand of place names, borders and boundaries, rivers, mountain ranges, seas and oceans, as well as both demographic and historical information.
The map is firstly printed to an impression of 2,800 dots per inch, in outline with light coastal shadow.
The gores are each cut by hand, then laid on the globe using our own technique. Each globe is painted using the finest pigments and the process can take two days and involve upto ten layers.
The globe is available both with or without horizon bands. (see inset below)
Map detail right...
The frame is robustly constructed; all moving parts are over engineered and each globe comes with a 20 year warranty. We actually hope that your children will be passing these down to their own grandchildren...
The timber used for the table tops is oak up to 200 years old and gives the finished globe a wonderful patina.
The brass is cast in our foundry, then engraved and polished. It is then aged.
Our Cartouche left is simple, and is four full length gores laid within a circle. Upon one of those gores is a cartouche with four gores laid within a circle. Upon one of those gores is a further cartouche with four gores laid within a circle etc etc!!!
Australia is therefore depicted on our map three times, maybe more under magnification!
